Multimedia Archival & Retrieval Systems
We are also exploring the role of archival in
wearable computing. Tremendous advances in
wearable camera and storage technologies
allow us to record not just snapshots of an
event but the whole human experience for a
long period of time. Such a "life-log" video
system can capture important events as they
happen, rather as an after-thought. The
objectives of this project are to construct a
practical life-log system and to develop novel
signal processing and pattern recognition
algorithms for
efficient cataloguing, searching and browsing of
life-log video.
Research Areas:
Lifelog Archival System
Broadcast Television Mining
Web Video Clustering (Inactive)
Unlike text documents, multimedia
content is difficult to catalogue and
search. In this project, we develop
novel systems to archive large
amount of multimedia content. The
left image shows our repeated
pattern discovery system that can
monitor multiple television
channels and find similar
commercials and news stories.
