Doreen LaMantia Maloney is an associate professor of New Media in the Department of Art and Art History. Her work has been shown internationally in Naples, Buenos Aires, Paris, Istanbul, and Havana. Some of her favorite national venues have been the Soho Joyce Theater, the Tribeca Film Festiva, the Teknika Radica Festival in San Diego, the Pompidou Center in Paris, France and GolYazi, Turkey. Professor Maloney's current work looks at popular culture and American society's relationship to entertainment, fact retention, status and the current war. She is curious about the current media and art market's desire for work about violence and violation and how that reflects Warhol's idea that society is unable to cope or manage meaningful empathy to images of human suffering, but instead views it as entertainment.
