Network Infrastructure

Network Infrastructure

The Center network is supported by a series of Cisco technologies including a 100% gigabit internal network behind a 2821 Router with an integrated IOS firewall. All of the Center is supported by a series of Catalyst switches, including several PoE switches for Wireless Access Points across our building. Each lab is separated by VLANs to help isolate network traffic and provides maximum bandwidth inside of each lab for collaboration efforts. Our Wireless Access Points are configured to work on the same broadcast channel to allow seamless transition between access points throughout the building ensuring that there is never a drop in service as researchers move about the building.

Server Infrastructure

Server Infrastructure

xSupporting the Centers collaboration efforts are a series of servers ranging from workstation class desktops to clustered rack servers. In total, we utilize several web servers to fully support all of the Center’s web presence, including our main web server, development server, network monitoring, Subversion control, and wiki web sites. We also deploy several Dell PowerEdge servers for our main file servers, user databases, and backup services. The Center is powered by a mix of Linux, Macintosh, and Windows operating systems all integrated together to provide a collaborative environment for all of our researchers and staff.
